Sports ETA and Destinations International create strategic partnership
to elevate sports events and tourism education and advocacy in America
CINCINNATI (August 8, 2022) – Sports Events and Tourism Association (Sports ETA), the professional trade association for the sports events and tourism industry, and Destinations International, the world’s largest resource for official destination organizations and convention and visitors bureaus (CVBs), today announced a new two-year partnership with a focus on educational programming and industry research.

Cowart Sports Events (CSE) celebrated the 50th Anniversary of Title IX on Memorial Day weekend during their Battle at The Rock youth softball tournament in Little Rock, Arkansas.
To commemorate the event, one softball complex each day was dedicated to only have female umpires on the fields. The first day of the tournament, the 12U bracket was able to witness all female officials, and on the second day of the tournament, the 14U bracket was able to witness all female officials. Many comments were heard on both days from players, coaches, and parents that the girls really enjoyed seeing more women calling their games. One comment went as far as to thank the tournament staff for putting the event together and showcasing the women that serve as role models for the young players.

Sports ETA releases its “State of the Industry” Report for the $91.8 Billion Sport Tourism Industry
FORT WORTH, TEXAS (May 3, 2022) – Sports ETA, the only trade association for the sports events and tourism industry, released its annual State of the Industry Report for 2021 resulting in the sports tourism sector’s direct spending impact of $39.7 billion which generated a total economic impact of $91.8 billion, supporting 635,000 full-time and part-time jobs and generating $12.9 billion in taxes.

CINCINNATI (April 28, 2022) – Sports ETA, the only trade association for the sports events and tourism industry, announced today a new two-year partnership with Civitas, the nation’s leading firm in tourism promotion funding and tourism improvement districts.
The agreement will encourage collaboration between both organizations to provide new joint research, education, and regular industry content sharing. The partnership focuses on utilizing tourism improvement districts (TIDs) as funding mechanisms for sports-related tourism initiatives and bringing awareness of the importance of sports events in the larger tourism ecosystem.
