The founding members of Sports ETA created the Association in 1992 so that they could share best practices and information with each other in order to be more successful at bidding on and hosting sporting events. As Sports ETA has evolved over the last three decades, the Association has continued to develop benefits that align with that mission. Sports ETA Member Awards

The annual Sports ETA Member Awards recognize the achievements of our members. In order to be considered, activities, events, marketing campaigns, web strategies, etc. must have occurred between January 1 and December 31 prior to the annual awards recognition. Active members may submit entries for all award categories.

Sports Tourism Strategist (STS)

Sports Tourism Strategist (STS)*– Open to Sports ETA members and non-members, STS is a continuing education program where participants are provided with cutting edge knowledge about topics relevant to the sports events and tourism industry. The curriculum covers a variety of topics that increase participants' efficiency and effectiveness in the workplace and enable them to earn the designation as a "Sports Tourism Strategist".

Sports Tourism Learning Institute

A product of Sports ETA, the Sports Tourism Learning Institute (STLI) is the leading-edge education institute for the sports events and tourism industry. Comprising a variety of learning opportunities, from free, topical content, to in-depth, industry-leading certification programs, STLI courses provide education for all industry segments driving professional development and organizational effectiveness. Whether you are new to the sports events and tourism industry, or a seasoned veteran, STLI’s wide scope of education offerings will push your knowledge and skills to the next level.

Events

Sports ETA Symposium – The original sports events and tourism industry conference, which has been produced annually by Sports ETA since 1992.  The Symposium features the Sports Marketplace, which is the longest-running reverse tradeshow for the sports events and tourism market, and equips sports events and tourism professionals with solutions that produce measurable ROI.  Members receive registered discounts, and only members from host organizations and exhibiting event owners and vendors are eligible to request appointments in the Sports Marketplace Appointments.  The Symposium is hosted each spring, usually in March or April.

4S Summit –  Previously known as Market Segment Meetings. This event is held each fall and covers the 4S's of sports events and tourism: strategies, services, sales, and sponsorships, will be covered during general sessions, small group discussions, and off-site excursions.  Take away key tools, resources, and best practices from your peers as well as experts in the sports events and tourism industry. All membership categories are encouraged to attend.

Chief Executive Summit –  Open to a limited number of C-Suite attendees, the Chief Executive Summit will provide an up close and intimate perspective about the issues facing sports and recreation today and tomorrow. Attendees will be active participants in the day's activities through not only Q&A sessions but group discussion. The CE Summit is hosted during Q1.

Women's Summit –  In conjunction with the Women's Final Four, this event is developed by top women leaders in the sports events and tourism industry, the Summit will inspire you to achieve your career goals.

Career*

Salary and Compensation Surveys - Contemplating a career move? Evaluating staff salaries? Learn what you, or they, should be earning.  Sports ETA conducts a research survey, as needed, exploring compensation levels for sports events and tourism professionals in various fields.

Career Center - Post job openings at a discounted rate; post resumes and view positions in the sports events and tourism industry.

Peer-to-Peer

MentoringThe Mentoring Committee consists of volunteer Sports ETA members with over 100 years of collective experience who are ready to serve all members and to educate the general membership on the value of Sports ETA.  Long-time members and new members alike are encouraged to reach out to the mentoring committee to utilize their vast amount of experience and know-how.
