Nominations for 2025 Board of directors Slate

To achieve continued growth and success, Sports ETA requires strong leadership from our dynamic members. Board members serve as representatives of Sports ETA's nearly 800 member organizations and help guide the future direction of the Association. 

The Nominating Committee is accepting applications for seven (7) open positions on the Sports ETA Board of Directors. The open positions include:

  • Executive Committee – Secretary/Treasurer
     
  • Four (4) Directors representing the Sports ETA Destination category serving a three-year term expiring June 2028.
     
  • One (1) Director representing the Sports ETA Industry Partner category serving a three-year term expiring June 2028.
     
  • One (1) Director representing the Sports ETA Rights Holder category serving a three-year term expiring June 2028.

The deadline for submitting applications is Sunday, February 16, 2025 at 11:59 PM PST.


Before accessing the nomination form: you will be required to sign in to your Google account (or the account you associate to Google). The reason for this is to auto-save your progress. This means that if you can’t complete the form in one sitting, or need to switch devices, you do NOT have to start over the next time you open the form. You can simply pick up where you left off. Your draft is saved on your Google account for 30 days (if you are offline, the autosave feature doesn’t work). You’ll know when your draft is saved, as “Draft saved Cloud done” will appear at the top of the form.

When you submit a nomination, the nominee will receive an email letting them know they’ve been recognized for their leadership qualities and encouraged to apply for the board. Please note, a nomination alone doesn’t guarantee a spot on the ballot; all nominees will need to complete a formal board application, which will be included in their email notification.

Nominating Process

Step 1

All Sports ETA members are invited to apply for a position and/or suggest potential candidates for consideration by the Nominating Committee. Applicants considered must embody the highest standards of personal and professional integrity and ethics, and are committed to advancing the sports events and tourism industry. 

In evaluating candidates for nomination as a director, the Nominating Committee thoroughly reviews each application received and considers criteria including the candidate’s experience and engagement with the association, previous board experience, diversity including age, gender, ethnicity, race, disabilities, and geography, understanding and forward thinking as it relates to the association’s mission, vision, and values, ability to think strategically, articulate a point-of-view, assess financial viability, identify strategic opportunities, and monitor risk. Step 2

Candidates selected to move forward in the nomination process, will be contacted to set up a phone interview with the Nominating Committee. Phone interviews will last approximately 20 minutes.                                     

Step 3

The Nominating Committee will then recommend a qualified applicant for each position to present to the full Board of Directors. Nominees will be notified by a member of the Nominating Committee regardless of their selection to the final slate.

Step 4

The person(s) selected will then be nominated and put forth before the membership, for a general membership vote at the 2025 Annual General Membership Meeting on April 16, 2025, in Tulsa,OK

Step 5

The new board term begins July 1, 2025.

  • Monday, December 16 – Nomination Portal Opens
  • Sunday, February 16 @ 11:59 PM PST – Nomination Portal Closes
  • February 17 -21 - Review Applications and Schedule Interviews
  • February 24 – March 7 – Interviews Take Place
  • Friday, March 14 – Slate finalized
  • Tuesday, March 25 – Proposed Slate presented to Board of Directors
  • Wednesday, March 26 – Friday, March 28 – All interviewees are notified of selection
  • Wednesday, April 16 – Vote to approve proposed slate during the Annual General Membership Meeting in Tulsa, OK.
