Kathy Nelson announced as new shared leader of Kansas City Sports Commission, Visit KC

KANSAS CITY, Mo.—In partnership with Mayor Quinton Lucas, the boards of the Kansas City Sports Commission and Foundation and Visit KC announced today that industry veteran and local community leader Kathy Nelson will serve as the leader of both organizations, effective Jan. 1, 2022. The Snohomish County Sports Commission has created an initiative to honor its county high school senior student-athletes. The initiative will honor all student-athletes no matter the sport. There are many student-athletes from baseball to golf, club lacrosse to club gymnastics, and many more sports who are not able to practice and play the sports that they have worked so hard over the last year due to the Coronavirus crisis. Missing sports? So are our members at the Greater Columbus Sports Commission. Because stadium, ballpark and arena seats are empty during the coronavirus outbreak, commission executive director Linda Logan's group is trying to gather sports fans for the next best thing: a virtual Sports Report series. The virtual series, which starts Thursday and will feature interviews with and special appearances by local team officials, trainers, chefs and others, is designed to fill the gap in sports content caused by the virus. Our members at the Charleston, West Virginia Convention & Visitors Bureau have been hard at work providing online resources and information to local businesses and employees, take a look: Our organization acted early to support the community; a few days into the release of social distancing guidelines in mid-March we launched Team Charleston, an online resource and information portal that supports local businesses and employees, as well as provides ideas for socially responsible activities. We update this page most days a week across a range of topics: ways you can help the community from home, a full list of restaurants that deliver carry-out, financial aid resources, and a webpage that allows you to send virtual tips to bartenders. We also keep it updated with social distancing activities.
