National Association of Sports Commissions Names Host Cities for 2014, 2015

At the annual symposium of the National Association of Sports Commissions with a record crowd of more than 700 in attendance, several announcements and awards were made to honor industry professionals. NASC officials announced that it will hold its 2014 Symposium in Oklahoma City, and will return to Milwaukee for its 2015 annual meeting. The sites were unveiled during this week’s general session kickoff at the 20th anniversary meeting of the National Association of Sports Commissions. The National Association of Sports Commissions (NASC) is pleased to announce a new partnership with Ohio University’s Center for Sports Administration. This partnership will begin with the Spring Module of the NASC's Certified Sports Executive Program in Hartford, CN on Tuesday, April 17. Ohio University is presenting a customized version of its graduate level course in Sports Sponsorships. The three hour session will be presented jointly by Jim Kahler, Executive Director of the Center for Sports Administration and AJ Maestas, President of Navigate Research in Chicago, IL. National Association of Sports Commissions' Symposium to feature Canine Cuddling Symposium set for April 16-19 in Hartford

The 20th anniversary edition of the National Association of Sports Commissions (NASC) Sports Event Symposium, to be held April 1619, 2012 in Hartford, Connecticut, will give attendees a hands-on experience with the Canine Cuddling Program. Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and New England’s only Guide Dog School, trains specially-bred German Shepherd dogs to lead people with blindness to a life of increased independence and mobility. Canine cuddling is a valuable socialization tool and key in training young dogs to explore the world and get acquainted with new surroundings and people. See the attached press release to read more.

Recent Certified Sports Event Executive Graduates Recognized at 2011 NASC Sports Event Symposium

The National Association of Sports Commissions (NASC) held its annual Sports Event Symposium on April 12‐14, 2011 in Greensboro, North Carolina. The conference included the recognition of 25 recent graduates of the Certified Sports Event Executive (CSEE) Program. The Certified Sports Event Executive (CSEE) Program, open only to NASC members, is a continuing education program provding participants with cutting edge knowledge increasing their efficiency and effectiveness in the sports event industry while enabling them to earn the designation of "Certified Sports Event Executive". NASC Recognizes Outstanding Members at 2011 NASC Sports Event Symposium

The National Association of Sports Commissions (NASC) held its annual Sports Event Symposium from April 12-14, 2011 in Greensboro, NC. The conference included the recognition of its outstanding members during the 2011 NASC Member Awards Luncheon on April 14, 2011. Awards were given in four categories: Member of the Year, Outstanding Communication/Advertising, Outstanding Web Site, and Outstanding Locally Created Event/Program. Submissions were divided into subcategories according to the organization’s annual sports budget. A panel of judges composed of association members reviewed a record number of entries based on the criteria and requirements outlined for each award category. Nancy Yawn Named to Board of National Association

Nancy Yawn, Director of the Round Rock (TX) Conventi on & Visitors Bureau, has been elected to the board of directors of the Nati onal Associati on of Sports Commissions (NASC). Yawn is also past-president and a member of the Round Rock Rotary Club and has served on the Texas Associati on of Conventi on & Visitors Bureaus. Nancy is a graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in Administrati on and Marketi ng. She has taken the leadership role in positi oning Round Rock as a successful host for important sports events. These events produce economic impact through visitor spending and positi ve publicity for the desti nati on. The Round Rock Conventi on & Visitors Bureau has been focused on the sports event market since about 2003, and is recognized as one of the top host citi es in the southwest. National Association of Sports Commissions Donates $5,000 to the Ohio High School Athletic Association Foundation

The National Association of Sports Commissions (NASC) held its annual Sports Event Symposium on April 13-15, 2010 in Columbus, Ohio. The conference included the donation of $5,000 to the Ohio High School Athletic Association Foundation (OHSAAF). The donation was made on behalf of the association members, whose contributions to the NASC Silent Auction provided conference attendees with a variety of items to bid on, with all funds being donated to the OHSAAF. Mike Hill with Hilton Hotels-Sports Sales was rewarded with a complimentary 2011 conference registration for donating the item that raised the most funds in the silent auction.
