CINCINNATI (October 26, 2021) – Sports ETA, the only trade association for the sports events and tourism industry, announced today a new partnership with Meeting Professionals International (MPI), the largest meeting planner and event planner industry association worldwide, to share industry events and educational programs for their respective industry members.
Under the terms of the new agreement, Sports ETA and MPI will share thought leadership and content at each of their respective annual conferences (Sports ETA’s Annual Symposium, Women’s Summit, Chief Executive Summit, and 4S Summit and MPI’s World Education Conference and GMID). Additionally, both organizations will share and cross-promote each other’s educational courses and curriculum.
“MPI is a long-time partner of Sports ETA and our sports events and tourism industry,” said Al Kidd, president and CEO of Sports ETA. “We are honored to have such a dedicated part...
The Stoll Report on State-Level Event Funding was designed with you in mind. This debut report serves to bring you up to speed on everything you need to know about the rapidly evolving landscape of state-level event procurement funds while simultaneously serving as an advocacy tool for your organization.
We gathered all the current and relevant information on this topic and put it all in one place, with easy-to-understand insights and expert analysis. The report covers such information as types of event funds, recent fund activity, parameters, types of events for which funds are used, measuring ROI, and much more. It also serves as a benchmark through which future report editions and updates will be measured.
2022 was an important inflection point in the history of our association. After two years of being unable to host live events, we experienced significant pressure on the sustainability of our event-driven revenue organization.
Sports ETA’s mission is to be the essential resource and leading advocate for the sports events and tourism industry. In FY ‘22, we did just that:
Hosted six (6) live events
Including two (2) Symposiums
Unveiled the 2022 State of the Industry Report, which measured the 2020 and 2021 impact on the sports events and tourism industry and served as a benchmark for our 2019 study
Launched Sports Tourism Learning Institute (STLI), the industry’s education engine to transform, enrich and power member’s careers
Joined forces with industry partners to enhance advocacy and value for our members
Supported national tourism relevancy
Supported local and national youth sports initiatives to fuel participation

4S Summit Attendees:
As you know, Hurricane Ian hit Florida this past week, with Sarasota directly in its path. We have communicated with our 4S Summit host hotel, The Westin Sarasota, and they report no major damage to the hotel. In fact, the hotel will be opening on Saturday with 100% operations. Sarasota Bradenton International Airport plans to reopen this weekend after repairing some roof damage.
Sports ETA has made the decision to hold our 4S Summit as planned in Sarasota on October 11-13. This is an excellent opportunity to support our members and partners in the destination by bringing in our tourism dollars.
In addition, we suggest that attendees participate in American Red Cross efforts by bringing items for care packages that we will assemble on-site. Here is a list of suggested donation items, many of which are easy to pack in your suitcase. You can also donate directly at redcross.org/donate/hurricane-ian-donations.
