Scott Dupree, Executive Director for the Greater Raleigh Sports Alliance, joined us at last year’s Chief Executive Summit. Ruston, Louisiana celebrated the opening of its new sports complex by hosting a baseball tournament. Dixie Youth World Series is wrapping up its two-week-long event which brought it nearly 80 teams.
The Ruston Sports Complex sits on 185 acres in North Louisiana. When completed, the Convention and Visitors Bureau says it will have facilities for baseball, softball, tennis, soccer, and football on 36 fields and 16 turf fields. Additional plans include an indoor facility for basketball and volleyball tournaments, as well as dance and cheer competitions.
This new complex is expected to bring a $1.2 billion economic impact to the Ruston and Lincoln parishes. It already started with the Dixie Youth World Series. The baseball tournament secured more than 5,000 overnight stays.

Sports ETA needs you. We’re looking for engaged members to volunteer their time and resources to be a part of a Sports ETA committee, and the deadline to apply is coming up quick. Participating on a committee allows you to contribute to the decision-making that positions Sports ETA as the most valuable resource available for sports events and tourism professionals.
You are probably asking yourself what is the commitment to be a committee member. Each committee has a conference call six to 12 times a year. Each call runs 30 minutes to an hour. And of course, you must be a current Sports ETA member to apply.
There are 10 different committees charged with different responsibilities like assisting with the planning of yearly events, mentoring the newest members of Sports ETA, or developing education sessions to help grow members' skills and much more. The critical resources on abuse prevention training the Center provides are now being offered to Sports ETA members. It’s another great benefit we are excited to pass along to you.
