Sports ETA announces new board leadership for 2021-22
 

CINCINNATI (June 29, 2021) – Sports ETA announced new board leadership as elected at the Annual General Membership Meeting this week. Michael Price of Greater Lansing Sports Authority was elected Board Chair.

The 2021 Officers of Sports ETA are:

  • Chair Michael Price, STS, CTA Greater Lansing Sports Authority. Price has served as executive director of Greater Lansing Sports Authority for the past 15 years and is a long-time committee chair with Sports ETA. He is the co-founder of Pure Michigan Sports, the state sports association for Michigan and serves as the groups lead.
     
  • Immediate Past Chair, Janis Burke, STS, Harris County – Houston Sports Authority. Burke has served as CEO of the Harris County – Houston Sports Authority for the past 15 years. Under her board leadership, Sports ETA unveiled the landmark study “2019 State of the Sports Tourism Industry Report in America presented by the Sports Events and Tourism Association in partnership with the Northstar Meetings Group.” The report concluded that U.S. sports travelers, event organizers and venues spent a total of $45.1 billion in 2019, an increase of over 5 percent from the previous year, generating $103.3 billion in direct, indirect and induced business sales.
     
  • Vice Chair Don Dukemineer, STS, CHSP, Decatur Morgan County Tourism. Dukemineer serves as the Director of Sports Development for Decatur Morgan County Tourism. He also serves as the Chairman of Sports Alabama, the state’s sports association.
     
  • Secretary Frank Lett, STS, Visit Kingsport. Lett has served as the Senior Associate Executive Director at Visit Kingsport for the past 15 years. He is also actively involved in Play Tennessee, the state’s sports association.
     
  • Treasurer Ray Palmer, STS, Pensacola Sports. Palmer has served as the President/CEO of Pensacola Sports for the past 19 years.
