Sports ETA and Ohio University Partner to offer 
Masters Certificate in Sports Gambling Education

 
In partnership with Ohio University’s Sports Gambling Education program, Sports ETA is offering its members a new education offering in the fast-moving legalized sports betting industry. 

The Masters Certificate in Sports Gambling Education, comprising three online courses, will help sports events and tourism leaders understand the landscape of legalized sports gambling and how to best leverage it. A 15% discount on tuition will be offered to Sports ETA members. To learn more about the program, visit the Sports Tourism Learning Institute.

Introductory Webinar: June 10, 3 PM ET
For those interested in learning more about the Masters Certificate in Sports Gambling Education, a webinar is being offered on June 10, 3 PM ET. Registration is free and open to the sports events tourism industry.

Panelists include: Jim Kahler, Executive in Residence, Faculty and Director of Sports Gambling Education at Ohio University; Jackie Reau, CEO, Game Day and graduate of the Masters Certificate in Sports Gambling Education at Ohio University; and Sara Slane, Founder at Slane Advisory and adjunct professor in the Masters Certificate in Sports Gambling Education at Ohio University.

Topics to be addressed on the webinar:

  • A brief overview of the Masters Certificate in Sports Gambling Education and the three courses
  • How states and destinations can leverage legalized sports gambling for new events, revenue and partnerships
  • How states and destinations can assist sports organizations, teams and events in managing integrity issues in legalized sports gambling

The three courses in the Masters Certificate in Sports Gambling Education include:

SGE101: Sports Gambling Awareness, A 360° Perspective
Sports Gambling Awareness: A 360° Perspective provides students with an understanding of the critical concepts and considerations surrounding legalized sports gambling in the United States. Course topics include the regulatory landscape, implications of legal & illegal sports gambling, the importance of game integrity & compliance, and the influence in media, entertainment, marketing, and sponsorships.


SGE201: Analyzing Sports Gambling Integrity Challenges
Analyzing Sports Gambling Integrity Challenges prepares students for the challenges that compliance officers, administrators, universities and institutions face in the current landscape of legalized sports gambling. It is divided into 5 modules focusing on a number of topics including athletic integrity, compliance, oversight, working with regulators, and best practices for handling sports gambling challenges.

SGE301: Innovations & Insights from Sports Gambling Stakeholders
Innovations & Insights from Sports Gambling Stakeholders looks behind the scenes with sports gambling industry executives, innovators, sportsbooks operators, and sponsors regarding the innovations of the sports and sports wagering worlds. Key stakeholders share their experiences working in the business and their visions of where these complementary industries may develop in the future. Students will reflect on some of the key partnerships between sports wagering entities and teams and leagues as well as the crucial moments in the sports gambling world that were deeply affected by COVID-19 developments. Together we consider the shared experiences and insights surrounding innovation in the sports and wagering industries to determine its effect on you and your stakeholders.
