Another Revenue High for NFL Sponsorship

The Super Bowl may have determined a winner on the gridiron, but the National Football League and its 32 teams may be the bigger winner. According to IEG research recently released, sponsorship in the NFL reached $1.39 billion for 2018-2019 season. That’s a 5.9% gain from last year. IEG found the growth was driven by two factors- a new group of league-wide sponsorships including technology company Intuit, restaurants McDonalds and Pizza Hut, and mattress company, Sleep Number. Also, signing the league’s first-ever “Official Casino Partner” with Caesar’s Entertainment. IEG says that deal is reportedly worth $30 million per year. The biggest surprise from this research is what IEG is calling the most invested brand. That title went to Ticketmaster. The ticket sales and distribution company has sponsorships with 100% of NFL properties. Budweiser/ Bud Light is at 88%, Gatorade at 79%. View full article from IEG.

NHL Selects Two Cities to Host Outdoor Games in 2020

A big win for two National Association Sports Commissions members as the National Hockey League selects two cities to host outdoor games in 2020. The 2020 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic is headed to its southernmost location yet. The Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas, Texas will play host to the January 1st game. The contest will mark the first NHL regular-season outdoor game for the Dallas Stars. The game in 2020 will mark the 12th year for the first NHL Winter Classic. The Colorado Avalanche will also host an outdoor game in 2020 at the United States Air Force Academy, in Colorado Springs. The NHL Stadium Series will play at Falcon Stadium on February 15, 2020. The Avalanche’s opponent will be named at a later time. This is the second NHL outdoor game for the state of Colorado, and the first in Air Force’s history. The Junior Wheelchair Basketball Tournaments Heads to the Birthplace of Wheelchair Basketball

Illinois is the birthplace for wheelchair basketball, so it’s fitting the NWBA National Junior Wheelchair Basketball Tournament is headed back to the state. The 2019 Tournament will be held in New Lenox, IL, a suburb southwest of Chicago, from March 29-31. The tournament will host three competitions for the Junior Division: National Junior Wheelchair Basketball Tournament (NJWBT) National Junior Invitational Tournament (NJIT) National Prep Wheelchair Basketball Tournament (NPWBT) This will be the 27th year of the Junior Division Nationals, and the fourth time Prairie State College has hosted the tournament. The 16-top ranked Varsity level teams will compete in the NJWBT, with the teams ranked 17-32 competing in the NJIT. Creating a Sports Tourism Boom in 2019

“We under promise and over-deliver.” That’s what Visit Baton Rouge President and CEO Paul Arrigo told WAFB is a key to the sports tourism boom in the area. It may take a lot of us by surprise, but it seems to be working for the area Baton Rouge will be host to the US Soccer regional youth championships in June, which is worth about $20 million to the area, Marucci World Series Championships in July, and Youth Basketball of America’s Winter Nationals in December. One of the new attractions city leaders expect will bring people to the city is Topgolf. The new location is set to open soon and is the first in Louisiana. In football, the contact is your rival team. In sales, you have three main contacts… Your first contact is your support network. Without the collaboration of your colleagues, your success would not be nearly as great. They keep you focused on moving towards your goals and hold you accountable.
