Ashleigh Bachert assumed the position of Vice President of Sales for Tulsa Regional Tourism on January 22, 2019. Her role is to guide the sales teams for sports and convention and meetings in increasing visitation through the market segments and collaborate with external stakeholders to showcase Tulsa as world-class destination. She comes to Tulsa from Durham where she was the first executive director of the Durham Sports Commission. Bachert lead Durham’s efforts to attract, support, and promote youth, amateur, and professional sporting and recreational events over the course of three years and saw economic impact more than double from $13.5 million to $30.6 million in her time at the helm..
She was a 2018 Triangle Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 award winner, a 2018 finalist for National Association of Sports Commission’s Sports Tourism Executive of the Year award, and a 2019 Connect Sports Game Changer.
Her background before Durham included leading the Jacksonville-Onslow Sports Commission in Jacksonville, NC as their Executive Director, a director of sales for a hotel in Martinsville, IN, working in the athletic marketing departments at Indiana University, the University of Louisville, and the University of Southern Mississippi. She also had a stint at with the PGA working with the then Buick Championship, now the St. Paul Travelers Championship.
Bachert played softball at the University of Connecticut while earning her B.S. in sports marketing. She received her master’s degree in sport administration from the University of Southern Mississippi, as well as a certificate in nonprofit management from Duke University. She is currently attending Louisiana State University-Shreveport to obtain her master’s in business administration.
