Kevin B Smith

Managing Director
Kevin is the Founder and Managing Director of OnPoint Sports Strategies LLC, a sports and tourism advisory company in St. Petersburg, Florida. Kevin has more than 20 years of experience as a sports and event tourism professional. He began his career in tourism in 1999 as a sales manager with the St. Petersburg Clearwater CVB and was promoted to the Director of the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission in 2006. As the director, he helped the organization expanded its reach in sports tourism by hosting events on a national and international level.

In 2004, Kevin and his St. Pete Clearwater Sports Commission colleagues founded the Sports Legacy Program. This program was developed through the sports industry to provide a community impact in cities that host the NASC Symposium. The Sports Legacy Fund is currently a part of the National Association of Sports Commissions annual event and provides donated sports equipment and financial support in communities and has provided more than $100,000 in equipment and funding. Kevin served on the National Association of Sports Commissions’ Board of Directors for 9 years and was elected by the membership to the position as Chairman of the Board in 2014.

Kevin has been a volunteer with the Outback Bowl in Tampa, Florida since 1988. Through his association with the Outback Bowl board, Kevin and his board colleagues have provided $500,000.00 in donations to Tampa Bay area charities including Clearwater for Youth, ARC of Tampa Bay, the Skills Center of Tampa and West Care of Florida. Kevin was elected by the Board to the position of Chairman Board for the 2015 game.

Kevin currently serves on the St. Leo University Sports Business Advisory Council. This advisory committee provides opportunities and input for students looking to go into the sports industry.
Kevin also is on the Board of Directors of the Florida Sports Foundation. The Florida Sports Foundation provides support for the 27 sports commissions in Florida through grant programs and marketing of the state to promote sports tourism.
