The 2024 Facilities Summit topic:
Sports & Venue Management: Culture, History & Success in Sports Venues
This one-day learning experience, targeting sport venue owners, operators, and sport tourism professionals, will offer many avenues to understand sport venues and their place in sports tourism.
The Summit kicks off with a panel featuring staff from the Portland Expo Center who will explore the historical and cultural significance of the venue, as well as creating a long-term plan for financial sustainability by transforming the Expo Center into a sports-centered facility.
Attendees will then depart for the first stop on our mobile venue tour - The Tualatin Hills Parks & Recreation District's showcase venue, the Howard M. Terpening Sport Complex. The second stop on the mobile venue tour, Ron Tonkin Field, is where we'll enjoy lunch, a tour & presentation. Both mobile venue tours and presentations will be centered around 3 topic areas: Sport Venue Rationale, At-Venue Considerations, and Programming & Partnerships.
Attendees will take away a greater understanding of their destination’s facilities through the lens of its culture, history, and success goals.

"As a new facility operator I have relied on best practices from similar facilities in order to plan our staffing and maintenance programs. As we are entering the market, it seems there is a lack of networking and training opportunities for facilities like ours. The Sports Facilities Summit fills a large need in the industry and I am excited to learn from experts around the country on how to better our product and/or operations."
Ben Huffman, STS, Director of Sports Enterprises, Warren County CVB
