Brian Persky, STS, SDLT, is the Director of Business Development at Discover Kalamazoo and has been with the organization for more than 7 years. Brian began at Discover Kalamazoo in 2015 as the Sports Event Development Manager and most recently served as the Director of Sports Event Development up until the Fall of 2022 when he was promoted to Director of Business Development overseeing all sports events, meeting sales, and services at Discover Kalamazoo. Brian graduated from Western Michigan University in 2008 and originally began his career in economic development prior to his work in the travel and tourism industry. Under Brian’s leadership, Discover Kalamazoo’s sports market has more than doubled in room night production over the last 6+ years and over the same time span Kalamazoo has been awarded numerous national championship events from the NCAA, USA Hockey, U.S. Figure Skating, USA Curling, the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association, and more. Brian has been an active member of the Michigan Sports Commission since 2015, serving on the professional development committee and most recently as Secretary & Treasurer of the Board.
