As Principal of Public Realm Strategies, Tara helps project teams and client stakeholders develop effective strategies for open space programming, governance and staffing, and budgeting. Her ability to build support for activation and self-sustaining operations has been pivotal to the success of several of OJB’s major urban parks, sports venues, and mixed-use developments. A passionate student of human nature, Tara specializes in community engagement and brings a keen awareness of how open spaces enhance the quality of civic life.Tara began her career in the sports and entertainment industry, spending more than 25 years in senior leadership roles with some of the country’s most prominent sports organizations and venues. She previously served as Chief Revenue Officer of the American Airlines Center, Chief Operating Officer of the Super Bowl XLV Host Committee, and Vice President of Sports Marketing for Visit Dallas. Her extensive event experience spans the Super Bowl, NBA and NHL All-Star Games, NCAA championships, FIFA World Cup, and numerous U.S. and international Olympic sports events. She served as board chair for the National Association of Sports Commissions and was named a Sports Business Journal Game Changer, an award recognizing women in the sports business for their significant contributions to the industry.Tara leveraged her sports experience in her role as the President of Klyde Warren Park in Dallas, where she helped establish the park as Dallas’ premier hub for civic life. During Tara’s tenure, Klyde Warren Park won 39 national and international awards, including the prestigious Urban Land Institute Urban Open Space Award in 2014. The park became self-sustaining within its first four years of operation and continues to thrive without city funding.
