Dalton Rakestraw
Organization:National Horseshoe Pitchers Association
My name is Dalton Rakestraw and I serve as the 2nd Vice President and World Tournament Coordinator for the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association (NHPA.) I also serve as the 2nd Vice President for the Southern California Horseshoe Pitchers Association (SCHPA.) With over 21 years of involvement in organized horseshoe pitching, I have dedicated my work to growing the sport, building inclusive competition opportunities, and strengthening community engagement through athletics. Throughout my leadership with the NHPA, I have helped organize and coordinate national and international tournaments that bring together athletes of all ages and skill levels. I am particularly passionate about creating accessible sporting opportunities that support active aging and lifelong participation in the sport. I believe that community-based competitions like horseshoe pitching provide meaningful ways for older adults to stay socially connected, physically active, and engaged in their communities. I live in Los Angeles and work full time as the Cardiovascular Supervisor at UCLA Ronald Regan Medical Center. I enjoy hiking, going to the beach and cosmopolitans. Other than horseshoe pitching I enjoy going to the casino, and traveling. I have not been international but have been to 46 states. I enjoy this passion for horseshoe pitching and only strive to get better and build a community that buys into our program.
