Meredith Scerba joined the Athletics senior leadership team as Senior Associate Director of Athletics for External Relations in January of 2019. Scerba, who brought nearly 20 years of experience in sports and event management to USF, came to the Bulls from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where she served as Director of Community Relations managing all aspects of the organization’s player outreach programs and events, as well as those for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Foundation and Glazer Family Foundation. In her role, she served as the Buccaneers community liaison to the NFL, local nonprofits, county school districts, corporate partners, military and government entities and youth football organizations. She managed a team of five members and launched several new community programs, including Social Justice Program, Jr. Bucs Program and Women of Red 2018 programming. Prior to joining the Buccaneers organization, Scerba served as the executive director of the 2017 World Rowing Championships in Sarasota. Responsible for the overall planning, staffing, fundraising and management of the championship, she managed an $8.5 million operating budget and raised $3.5 million in sponsorship and event revenue as the event provided a $25 million economic impact in the area. She was responsible for the organization, communication and leadership of the local organizing committee and hired and managed a staff of 20. Scerba also had a highly successful 10 year tenure at the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, rising to senior vice president of marketing and operations. In her role there, managed an operations and marketing/communications staff of six as well managed external relationships with contractors and event specific staff and volunteers. She served as the executive director of the 2013 National Senior Games, which had a budget of $4.3 million and provided an economic impact of $36.1 million. For the Senior Games, she hired and managed an overall staff of 40 and managed the planning, budgeting, marketing, communications and operations of all events. Scerba began her career with the Cleveland Cavaliers as a group events coordinator, developing and executing group events and sales activities while managing a staff of 15. Scerba is a 2001 graduate of the University of Findlay with a BA in marketing and business management. A four-year varsity swimmer at Findlay, she was named captain of the team. Scerba was chapter president and a 13-year member of the Cleveland chapter of Women in Sports and Events (WISE) before playing an integral role in launching the WISE Tampa Bay chapter. She is a Class of 2019 Leadership Tampa Bay Member and serves on the local advisory committee for 2019 NCAA Women’s Final Four in Tampa. Scerba was a 2013 recipient of the a distinguished sales and marketing award and had been a University of Findlay Sport Management Advisory Board member since 2012.
