This year, 2025, marks the 35th anniversary of the Americans With Disabilities Act, a comprehensive law that prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in all areas of public life. We have come a long way since that historic piece of legislation was signed into law in 1990. But we aren’t there yet. And recent evidence has shown when a country hosts a Paralympic Games, there was a seismic shift not only in societal attitudes about people with disabilities but also a significant increase in participation among disabled people. Is your community, organization, or venue ready to handle the influx after the 2028 Paralympics returns to the United States? In this session, we’ll explore the current landscape of adaptive sports and ways you can prepare to host programs, competitions, and tournaments in the future.
