John Prater 
President, Praters Inc.   
 
John Prater founded Praters Inc. in 1990 to provide gym floor services to schools in the Tennessee Valley. In 1993, he was the first to introduce graphic design to the spots flooring industry. Today, the courts that feature multi-toned color, city scapes and dynamic granding are a direct result of his team pushing the limits of design.

In 2005, Praters established the world's largest portable basketball court production facility. Since this time, the company has provided courts for three Olympics, 15 Final Four courts, World Basketball Championships and NBA Africa.

In 2009, John and his team began working on a solution for branding high profile basketball tournaments with decals that would be safe for athletes. Praters patented a decal that was finished with a gym coating that would mimic the slip resistance of a basketball court and could be shipped, pre-finished, to any location in the world.

This innovation has supported the boomoing MTE basketball tournament market and has made basketball tournament operations more safe. Praters currently supports virtually every holiday basketball tournament with graphic design services, Play On decals and technical operation services. Currently, Praters manages the courts for the entire National Basketball Association as well as providing every court for the second year of the Emirates Cup, the NBA's in-season tournament.
