Virtual networking event will connect America’s sports events and tourism industry
CINCINNATI (July 2, 2020) – SportsBIZ XChange presented by Sports ETA, a month-long schedule of virtual business appointments and industry networking opportunities to connect its members to sports events rights holders, announced today that CBS Sportscaster Seth Davis will serve as the keynote speaker on August 3, 4-5 p.m. Myrtle Beach is the sponsored host of Davis’ keynote session.
Seth Davis is an award-winning sports writer and broadcaster who covers college basketball. Since 2004, Davis has been a mainstay of CBS Sports’ studio coverage of college basketball and the NCAA Tournament. He wrote for Sports Illustrated for 22 years and is currently the Managing Editor for college basketball at The Athletic.

Returning to play is something many of us have been looking forward to, but it will come with changes. Due to COVID-19, many tournaments and recreational leagues are having to put new safety measures in place. As an event venue or organization, you will have to do the same. That is why Grand Park Sports Campus in Indiana and IUPUI Sports Innovation Institute teamed up to create a survey on what adaptations players and their families would want and not want.

The virtual event will take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 1:30pm and 4:30pm ET from August 3 – 21.
One-on-one appointments will take place on Mondays and Fridays
Group meetings (similar to RFP round tables) will take place on Wednesdays
Actual appointment times will be from 2-4pm ET with introductory speakers, business development lounges, and entertainment happening before and after

CINCINNATI (June 17, 2020) – Registration is now open for SportsBIZ XChange presented by Sports ETA, a month-long schedule of virtual business appointments and industry networking opportunities for its members and sports events rights holders from August 3-21.
Virtual attendees will have multiple one-on-one 20-minute appointments with key decision-makers as well as several 30-minute event overview appointments with sports events rights holders, access to dozens of new and updated RFPs, and numerous social networking opportunities in the Virtual Lounges. Additionally, a virtual Locker Room will be open to all attendees to view documents (RFPs, fact sheets, and videos) from each rights holder.

“I begged, borrowed lots from Sports ETA members to get where we are today,” said Williams. “I am always happy to help anyone who is looking to move towards this.”
All that begging and borrowing has led her to this - the Executive Director of Greenville- Pitt County Sports Commission, a newly formed organization. Launching in July 2019, the commission is just beginning to show how the area is an emerging sports destination. Her role is to lead the sports commission in being a preferred sports destination for events, vendors, visitors and beyond.
“We are a small destination with big city feels and budget friendly hospitality,” Williams said. “We also understand what we are and what we are not. Knowing we have 2,000 hotel rooms puts us in a position where some events could be a fit and some are not.”

Great American 5000 is a way for teams of up to 12 or 24 runners to join together and strengthen their community. Starting on Flag Day, June 14, 2020, runners will take off running 5,000 km (3,120 miles) virtually from the Pacific near San Francisco to the Atlantic near New York City.
The Competition
Teams will collectively run for 24 hours each day and send in how far they covered. An online map will track their virtual progress across the country. Sports ETA to move its Annual Symposium to 2021
CINCINNATI (June 4, 2020) – Sports ETA, the trade association for the sport events and tourism industry, announced today that it will postpone its 2020 in-person Annual Symposium to April 26-29, 2021 in Birmingham, Alabama. The largest annual gathering of sports events and tourism professionals was originally scheduled to be hosted in Kansas City for August 2-5, 2020. Kansas City will host a future Annual Symposium to be announced at a later date.
As a supplement and significant member benefit enhancement to its on-going robust programming, Sports ETA will offer SportsBiz XChange, a month-long schedule of industry networking opportunities for its members and sports events rights holders. Virtual attendees will have numerous appointments with key decision-makers in sports tourism events and access to dozens of new and updated RFPs throughout the month of August. Registration will open later this month at SportsETA.org.
