The National Association of Sports Commissions (NASC) held its 2007 NASC Sports Event Symposium on April 17 – 20 in Dallas. The event included the announcement of the 2007-2008 Board of Directors. The board also introduced a new chairman, Bill Hanson; new secretary, Regina Zara; and four new board members. See the attached press release to read more.

2007 Certified Sports Event Executive Graduates Announced at Annual NASC Sports Event Symposium

The National Association of Sports Commissions (NASC) held its 2007 NASC Sports Event Symposium on April 17 – 20 in Dallas. The event included the graduation of nine members from the Certified Sports Event Executive (CSEE) Program. Open only to NASC members, the CSEE is a continuing education style program where participants are provided with cutting edge knowledge from topics relevant to the sports event industry. National Association of Sports Commissions Hosts Annual NASC Sports Event Symposium

The National Association of Sports Commissions (NASC) held its Annual General Membership Meeting at the 2006 NASC Sports Event Symposium on April 19 at the Hyatt Lexington in Lexington, Ky. Awards and announcements were given that include the 2006 NASC Awards Program, 20062007 Board of Directors and 2008 & 2009 conference host cities. NASC Awards were given in four categories: Outstanding Communication/Advertising, Outstanding Web Site, Outstanding Locally Created Event/Program and Member of the Year. More than 40 entries were received for all four categories, which were divided into subcategories (budgets over $200,000 and budgets under $200,000). Entries were reviewed by a panel of their peers in the association, which included past winners in all categories, and judged based on the criteria listed for each category. National Association of Sports Commissions Announces Partnership with SportsEvents Magazine

The National Association of Sports Commissions (NASC) recently announced the signing of a partnership with SportsEvents magazine, published by Covey Communications Corp., as the association’s first ever Platinum Level Partner. SportsEvents magazine is published bi-monthly and distributed to 16,000 planners of all types of sporting events throughout the United States. The bi-monthly publication features articles relating to the fundamentals of event planning, such as the “HowTo’s” of organizing sports events, fundraising, selling sponsorships, negotiating for hotel guest room rates, guarantees and attrition clauses, financial issues, legal and liability concerns, handling a crisis, and so on. The magazine also features profiles of sports events and interviews with sports events planners, destination spotlights, news on facility developments, sports events happenings, and other matters relevant to planning sports events. NASC Announces 2005 Award Winners

The National Association of Sports Commissions (NASC) announced the 2005 NASC Member Awards Program winners on Friday, April 22nd at the 2005 NASC Sports Event Symposium in Portland, OR. Awards were given in four categories: Outstanding Communication/Advertising, Outstanding Web Site, Outstanding Locally Created Event/Program and Member of the Year. Over 30 entries were received for all four categories, which were divided into subcategories (Active Members with budgets over $200,000, and Active Members with budgets under $200,000). NASC Names New Board of Directors

The National Association of Sports Commissions (NASC) elected its 2004-2005 Board of Directors at the Membership Meeting Luncheon at the 2004 NASC Sports Event Symposium April 22 at the Adam's Mark Hotel in Jacksonville, FL. The NASC Board of Directors plays an active role in governing the operation of the association. Board members meet monthly via conference call in conjunction with the staff to approve budget reports, receive updates from review committees, offer guidance on member service issues and, in general, provide staff with general comments and suggestions about the association's activities. The board meets in person twice a year at the NASC Sports Event Symposium and the NASC SemiAnnual Meeting. See the attached press release to read more.
