One of Casper’s top sports spots, the WYO Sports Ranch, is a hub for training, rec sports, events, and community activities. Built for athletes, clubs, organizers, families, and local groups, the center focuses on five main areas: youth sports training programs, clinics, and camps; fitness and performance training; youth leagues; tournaments and events; and space rentals for family gatherings.

Behind-the-Scenes Innovation

Designed with extra practice space and community events in mind, the 131,000-square-foot WYO Sports Ranch has quickly turned into a statewide gathering place where Wyoming meets, competes, and grows. In just its second year, the facility expects to host over 100 events, aiming to be the go-to spot for tournaments, local events, and big ideas.

While the facility features an east wing with fixed hardwood and a west wing with permanent synthetic turf, the turf area is built for quick adjustments. Staff can lay down sub-flooring and modular hardwood directly over the turf, turning the indoor field into four extra basketball courts or eight additional volleyball courts on short notice.

Success Stories

To support Casper and young athletes across the state, organizers launched an ambitious campaign to fund and build the venue. Constructed over 18 months, the WYO Sports Ranch is owned by the non-profit WYO Complex and guided by a 13-member board focused on supporting youth and community through sports.

Partnering with the National College Finals Rodeo, the WYO Sports Ranch hosts the annual Mercantile Tradeshow, a growing vendor market that boosts business for both the facility and the surrounding area.

The mission of the WYO Sports Ranch is to provide growth opportunities to youth and families, built on values like service, innovation, hospitality, competition, and commitment.

Design & Community Engagement

WYO Sports Ranch is split into three main areas. The east wing houses six permanent basketball courts or 12 volleyball courts, while the west wing provides four temporary basketball courts or eight volleyball courts over turf. The lobby serves as a popular gathering space, holding events for 150 to 600 people. The venue also offers a performance center, an athletic training room, and three flexible community rooms. Plenty of spectator seating, concessions, and a full catering kitchen help keep visitors comfortable and fed.

The WYO Sports Ranch works closely with the local junior college and school district to create more opportunities for students, offering space for practices, hosting events, and encouraging community involvement. “The Casper region brings a wealth of inventive concepts,” noted Luke Gilliam, who directs business growth and strategic alliances for the venue. “We love hearing visitors ask if we can execute their vision. Moving forward, our core focus remains expanding these offerings and continuously elevating the facility.”

Athlete & Visitor Experience

Sitting on a hilltop north of town, the WYO Sports Ranch features scenic views of Casper. Built to reflect Western culture, the facility includes local touches—from an elk antler chandelier to custom directional signs—giving it an authentic Wyoming feel. Looking ahead, the Ranch continues to explore new ways to deliver great experiences for the local community and visitors from across the country.

Representing a $52 million investment, the complex was funded privately and operates under non-profit leadership. After opening in January 2025, the venue welcomed over 18,000 young athletes and 45,000 fans, reaching more than 63,000 total visitors in its first year.
