Facility Spotlight: Raising Cane’s River Center

The Raising Cane’s River Center stands as a premier Baton Rouge venue, offering the flexibility, services, and technical support needed to host conventions, performances, and large-scale events with confidence.

This locally owned landmark features an arena with 8,900 permanent seats, a 70,000-square-foot exhibition hall, and a 26,000-square-foot column-free ballroom. With more than 200,000 square feet of event space, Raising Cane’s River Center is built to accommodate everything from wrestling and volleyball to bowling and ice hockey, reflecting the versatility that makes it a standout destination for events of every scale.

Success Stories:  Bowl Baton Rouge

A defining moment for the River Center in 2025 was the return of the United States Bowling Congress, reaffirming Baton Rouge’s ability to host marquee events with scale and impact.

• 150 days of competition
• 54 custom bowling lanes were installed at Raising Cane’s River Center, transforming the 70,000-square-foot exhibition hall.
• 21 hours of daily competition
• 11,684 teams registered for the event in 2025

In all, Baton Rouge has hosted the USBC Open Championship three times since 2005.  The 2025 record-setting return underscored Baton Rouge’s strength as a host destination, delivering the highest team total since the event was last held in the city in 2012 and surpassing the 2024 tournament in Las Vegas. In all, 58,420 bowlers competed throughout the Championships and related events, generating an estimated economic impact of nearly $150 million. 

Community Impact: More Than Bowling

The impact of the River Center extends well beyond its walls, serving as a catalyst for economic activity and community engagement across Baton Rouge. Major events like the USBC Open Championships drive sustained visitation, energizing local restaurants, retail shops, and hotels while generating significant tax revenue and supporting jobs throughout the region.

This influx of visitors from the 2025 USBC Open Championship contributed to a 6.2% increase in average hotel occupancy from March through June, underscoring the measurable demand generated by large-scale, multi-month events. With visitor spending heavily concentrated in dining, retail, and lodging sectors, the River Center plays a vital role in strengthening the city’s tourism ecosystem and reinforcing the long-term value of continued investment in sports and hospitality infrastructure.

Together, these results reflect a destination gaining momentum, with the capacity and vision to attract the next generation of major sporting events.
