Sports ETA and Quantum Consultancy Announce New Partnership

CINCINNATI (July 22, 2021) – Sports ETA, the trade association for the sports events and tourism industry, and Quantum Consultancy, a data-driven consultancy solution to develop event strategies and evaluate new and existing products in the sport and entertainment sector announced today a partnership to provide the Quantum Event Hosting Landscape Report 2020-2028 to Sports ETA members at a discount.

The Quantum Event Hosting Landscape Report 2020-2028 details the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the calendar of flagship sports events. The report considers 95 international sports federations, 160 flagship properties totaling 780 event editions within its scope of research.

Research suggests that close to 50% of all major world championships and multisport games scheduled to take place during 2020 were cancelled, with 8% rescheduled and successfully delivered later in the year. Almost 30% of events have been rescheduled to future years, with many of these rescheduled events also being reallocated to a new host.

The congested calendar is set to peak in 2021, although it remains uncertain as to how many of these rescheduled events from 2020 will actually be delivered this year given the ongoing difficulties faced by event owners and hosts. The postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympic & Paralympic Games has resulted in a clear prioritization of events for international sports federations, with emerging trends such as the use of single locations for aggregated events such as the combined hosting of senior, youth and junior world championships.

The report also outlines various future event hosting opportunities in relation to the 2021-2024 and 2025-2028 summer Olympic cycles.

To date, 63% of events within the upcoming cycle have been awarded to 57 nations. USA continues to host more events than any other nation, with an expectation for this to rise and continue into the 2025-2028 cycle ahead of the Los Angeles Olympic & Paralympic Games. China, France, Germany, Russia and Switzerland are also set to host several flagship events.

The efforts of several international sports federations and their attempts to keep audiences engaged are highlighted alongside case studies detailing different response strategies to manage the impacts of the pandemic.

To learn more, check out a brief Q&A between Dr. Jennifer Stoll, Sports ETA, and Colin Stewart, Quantum Consultancy as they discuss discuss why Quantum Consultancy created the report and how it can be of benefit to Sports ETA members.

The cost to purchase the Quantum Event Hosting Landscape Report 2020-2028  is $1,699. Sports ETA members are encouraged to contact: sales@quantumconsultancy.org to purchase the report with a 20% discount, using code “SPORTSETA20” to pay a total of $1,360.
