One of the goals this Sport ETA Young Professional has is to survive 2020 and bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of us are with you on this one Luchie.
Meet Luchie Javelosa. She has been in the sports events and tourism industry for five years and is currently the sports sales manager at Visit Tucson. In her role, Luchie is tasked with marketing the Tucson region as a premier sports destination through working with local facilities and businesses, developing bid proposals and presentations, and managing social media platforms.
In the Tucson area, Luchie has enjoyed showcasing the city to new and returning visitors.
“Particularly one recent memory is setting up a skills clinic for the local youth rugby club with the Spain 7s Men’s National Team earlier this year,” said Javelosa. “It’s little moments like these that create a lasting memory and impact for our local youth and community.”
In the future, Luchie hopes to be able to create more DEI initiatives along with hosting more non-traditional sporting events to include LGBTQ+ and adaptive athletics. She’s also looking forward to becoming a mentor by bringing an intern onto the team and introducing them to the sports tourism industry.
When Luchie isn't showcasing her great new city, she enjoys exploring other cities. Luchie hopes to visit every country and looks forward to trying local delicacies when she’s there.
