2020 may be here, but don’t forget about all the work you and your organization did in 2019. It’s time for the Sports ETA Member Awards. Each year, Sports ETA honors organizations and individuals in the sports events and tourism industry that have done exemplary work within the past year.

“Every member should consider submitting for an award because we all do amazing work throughout the year,” said Derek Bombeck, Sales Development Manager at Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau and Awards Committee Chair. “Submitting for an award acknowledges the hard work you have put into your events and allows you to be recognized at the Symposium among the top leaders in the industry.”

The 2020 Member Awards activities, events, marketing campaigns, web strategies, etc. must have occurred between January 1 and December 31, 2019. The independent judging panel is looking for impact regardless of budget or staff size. Organizations of all sizes are encouraged to participate.

Winners will be announced during an awards presentation at the 2020 Symposium. But that’s not all winners will receive.

“We are working on showcasing our award winners, not only at the Symposium but throughout the year in various ways,” Bombeck added. “This allows peers and Sports ETA members to understand the great work happening with each organization and to motivate them to submit and win the next year.”

Besides bragging rights among industry peers, you and your organization will be featured in a press release, Playbook article, blog and social post, along with receiving a trophy and awards for your office. All finalists will also have the opportunity to lead a Symposium education session on your award-winning project and can contribute an article to the Sports ETA Playbook.

“Do whatever you can to set yourself apart from your competition,” Bombeck suggests. “When so many organizations are submitting for the same award it’s important to be unique to help your submissions stand out among the rest.  Most importantly, read the directions of the submission and only provide the number of words and pages requested.”
