How to Prepare for Uncertainty and Adverse Conditions

Is your organization and event team prepared and resilient to manage adverse events within complex and uncertain operating environments?  During this workshop, Peter will present three (3) individual, 75 min focus sessions:

1. Introduction to the Fundamentals of Enterprise Risk Management
2. Secure by Design: Principles for protecting crowded spaces during events
3. Mission Ready – critical decision making and how to optimize individual and team performance through a risk-based preparedness approach for the “knowns” (familiar and consistent) and enhance resilience for the “unknowns”

Peter Ashwin, Principal, Event Risk Management Solutions (ERMS)

Peter Ashwin is the principal and founder of Event Risk Management Solutions (ERMS), a consulting practice committed to enhancing organizational resilience for festivals and events through practical and effective risk management and security solutions. ERMS's latest initiative has been the development and delivery of industry-specific, 1-day & 2-day risk management and event security workshops for festival and event organizers and city special event staff in Australia, Canada & the US.

Peter is a former Australian Army special forces officer who has been consulting in the international major events environment for over 15 + years. He has consulted on a wide range of major events including six Olympic Games (2000 – 2012), the 2015 European Games , Azerbaijan (Director of Security), the ICC 2015 Cricket World Cup (Australia & NZ), the 2010 G8/G20 Summit (Toronto), and some of North America's most iconic festivals & events including the Calgary Stampede, Memphis in May International Festival, Philadelphia Flower Show, Pasadena Tournament of Roses, Kentucky Derby Festival and the Beale Street Entertainment District (City of Memphis).

Peter is a director on the International Festivals and Events Association (IFEA) World Board, and lectures on risk management and event security at the IFEA/NRPA Event Management School and the IAVM Academy of Safety and Security.
